The workers who are trapped in the Silkyara tunnel are being rescued by Uttarkashi, Complete list.
Each worker will be put on a wheeled stretcher and gently pulled outside by rescue teams using ropes during the last stage of the Uttarakhand tunnel rescue operation.
The evacuation of 41 trapped workers marked the culmination of the rescue operation in Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel, which suffered a partial collapse on Tuesday.
Originally, an auger machine and horizontal drilling were used to drill through a 60-meter section of collapsed tunnel debris. However, there was a pause on Thursday due to issues with this process. The rescue crew then started drilling vertically from the top of the tunnel. In order to remove the final ten meters of debris, authorities simultaneously switched to manual drilling using rat-hole mining techniques.
Procedure following evacuation:
Rescue teams will employ a meticulous process utilizing ropes to safely extract each worker, placing them on a wheeled stretcher during the final phase of the operation. Taking the practiced procedure into consideration, this extraction process is anticipated to span a duration of two to three hours.
Within the confines of the tunnel, a temporary medical facility has been established to conduct thorough health examinations on the rescued workers. The health department has arranged eight beds for immediate treatment following their evacuation, with a team of physicians and specialists on standby in case of any unforeseen complications.
Upon emerging from the steel chute, the rescued workers will find ambulances strategically positioned at the tunnel’s entrance, poised to transport them to a nearby community health center.
Preemptively, at the Chinyalisaur community health center, located approximately 30 kilometers from Silkyara, a specialized ward equipped with 41 oxygen-supported beds has been designated to cater to the healthcare needs of the rescued workers.
The medical personnel are well-prepared to provide assistance as required, and contingency plans have been devised to airlift the employees to more advanced hospitals if such intervention becomes necessary.
The workers trapped in the tunnel have been waiting for rescue for the past 17 days.
